The Infrastructure Managing Consultant is a client-facing role responsible for providing technology expertise and project direction, designing and recommending creative technical solutions, supporting execution engagements with client teams. Ideal candidates will be detail-oriented and will have experience consulting with large (e.g., Fortune 250) enterprises to improve current IT infrastructure, optimizing business operations, and establishing an approach for integrating information applications and systems. Additionally, candidates should have experience identifying, developing, and securing new network business opportunities with clients.


To be successful in this role you should have excellent technical, analytical, and project management skills. You should also have strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.


Must have:


  • A working knowledge and current understanding of technical trends across enterprise network, telecommunications, compute, storage, applications, cloud, security, and other appropriate technologies
  • Ability to define which technical risks and issues need to be addressed, and the variables that may affect their resolution
  • Creativity to recommend solutions that effectively address business and IT issues through technical analysis, troubleshooting, research, evaluation, and communication 
  • Skills to build consensus with stakeholders and gain agreement on the problem and solution 
  • A problem solver, a “doer” and someone looking for continual improvement
  • Flexibility to travel – primarily within the USA

Additional details:


  • Evaluate organization wide systems, functions, and IT processes and suggest improvements
  • Lead delivery, solution development, and thought leadership across infrastructure domains
  • Lead network planning, design, build, and implementation activities
  • Help executives understand their network, sourcing, and solution options, including Cloud/IaaS/PaaS
  • Assist with the design and implementation of technical solutions and operational processes
  • Provide technical guidance and consulting for network transformation programs
  • Evaluate and mitigate risk on new and existing network transformation programs
  • Provide guidance on the technical delivery and spreadsheet-based performance analysis
  • Act as technical expert in key infrastructure areas of focus
  • Evaluation of bidder service proposals in a strategic sourcing initiatives, using robust evidence and well-reasoned arguments to underpin operational and financial assessments
  • Develop efficient methodologies to solve problems and communicate these clearly and concisely through contributions to proposals for new work and the issue of work instructions (verbal and written) 
  • Support and lead build versus buy strategies and views of the overall business strategy
  • Keep clear and direct communication with clients to minimize miscommunication and misunderstandings
  • Readily identify priorities and anticipate issues, potential conflicts, inaccuracies, or miscalculations
  • Present, host, facilitate, or participate in virtual and on-site meetings and conference calls


Candidate Profile:


  • A bachelor's and/or Master’s degree in information technology or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in network infrastructure, network transformation, IT infrastructure, operations, and architecture
  • Detailed knowledge of Cisco and competitor product lines and network service providers
  • Experience in helping clients design, integrate, and operationalize infrastructure products or systems
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply ITIL processes and standards for managing the IT infrastructure
  • Experience consulting within large, complex global organizations
  • Excellent personal, technical, analytical, and project leadership skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good leadership and motivational skills
  • Experience in modeling and graphic representations
  • Extreme attention to detail – both tactical and strategic (thinking through interdependencies, outcomes, implications)
  • Comfortable and effective working with all levels of the client organization, in person or remotely
  • Able to build rapport and establish trust with clients and manage client expectations
  • Adept in observing and taking action on client behaviors and nuances that may influence project results
  • Able to identify potential issues and take action for remediation
  • Experience completing multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong organizational follow-through and time management skills
  • Able to set priorities and multi-task while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines and working within daily time constraints
  • Proactive work ethic and problem-solving skills
  • Able to analyze information and problems and develop creative solutions
  • Professional judgment for handling confidential information
  • Self-motivated, independent, and able to successfully work from home or remotely
