Over the course of our two days together, the need for personal transformation crystallized as an enabler of success across all the most challenging areas of technology and business. As executives, it will be impossible to lead organizations effectively through profound change without significant growth and change on a personal level.
AI is fundamentally changing the rules of business and how we work, and it will ultimately reshape the way we live as human beings. Sustainability is an existential imperative requiring our full passion, commitment, and focus. Financial and labor markets are in flux, and political instability is prevalent around the globe. These are already tough issues individually, and they’re all in play right now.
Navigating these challenges and capturing the opportunities in front of us will require executives to build new levels of personal responsibility and skills. This isn’t as simple as having great data to make decisions or having the right level of focus to stay the course. This means having the guts, personal conviction, and confidence to go do it.
What has always lagged in our pursuit of transformational change is an equal investment in our people and culture.
Digital transformation implies the integration of technology to enhance customer experiences, increase efficiency and profit, and enable new innovations. At various levels of maturity, we've adopted cloud and automation. We've flooded our businesses with oceans of data to make better decisions. We've built countless "centers of excellence" where excellent things are centered. What has always lagged in our pursuit of transformational change is an equal investment in our people and culture.
We need to view generative AI, sustainability, software-defined platforms, and other triggers as an opportunity to invest in the organizational culture, alignment, and agility needed to take full advantage of these capabilities. What’s next in transformation isn’t about the newest technology. It’s the opportunity to look beyond the horizon and think about the "business after the business." It’s imperative to view this opportunity through the lens of our most important constituents – our employees, our customers, our global community, and ourselves. As leaders, we need to make these vital stakeholders the focus of this critical journey.
